Safety Committee

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

The Arbors Safety Committee is looking for two individuals, one to serve on the safety committee and one who is willing to serve as a block captain. The safety committee operates as an advisory committee to the Arbors Board of Directors on safety-related issues. Committee members' duties basically consist of conducting an annual safety survey of the community and serving as a communication relay from the block captains to the Arbors BOD during a disaster such as a hurricane. The Arbors 'blocks' consist of 10 groups of 17 to 20 houses. The duties of block captains include making a safety check of their block prior to a hurricane, checking the status of those houses immediately after a disaster, and relaying any necessary information to a member of the safety committee. The block that currently requires a captain is a group of homes on Forest Glade near the intersection of Sequoia. These positions have minimal duties during normal periods, but for a brief period during a disaster they can be the most important jobs in our community. Anyone interested in serving may contact any BOD member or the chair of the Arbors Safety Committee, Doug Carson, at 463-8068. -Doug Carson
